Fasciated wren (Campylorhynchus fasciatus), Machalilla, Ecuador
This bird was skulking in the mesquite, betraying its presence with loud, harsh calls. A new species for me. The bird's 'jizz' immediately reminds one of the Eurasian wren, but whereas Europe has only one species of wren, the New World has around 22. The species is endemic to a small area of Ecuador and Peru.
