M4 Severn Bridge, storm approaching
This bridge spans the Severn Estuary, linking England with Wales. It is 5.1 km (3.2miles) in length. The central span, seen here, is of a cable-stayed design. That is to say, cables run diagonally from each of the two towers directly to the bridge, rather than being suspended from a horizontal cable spanning the tops of the towers, as in a suspension bridge.
