Male white-lined tanager (Tachyphonus rufus) perching on heliconia flower, Plymouth, Tobago

The white linings to the axillary feathers are usually only seen when the male exposes them in the presence of the female in courtship display. The species breeds from Costa Rica to northern Argentina. This picture is perhaps best not viewed if you are suffering from a headache.
