Yacaré caiman (Caiman yacare), Pantanal, Brazil

This medium-sized crocodilian reaches a length of around 2.5m. It feeds on fish, birds and small mammals and is in turn predated by the jaguar, the fearsome bite of which can crush the skull of a caiman.
