Cocoa thrush (Turdus fumigatus), Arima Valley, Trinidad

The South American cocoa thrush is a bird of the forest floor in dense forest, where it seeks its prey in the leaf litter. The name perhaps originates with a perceived association with cocoa plantations. Again, the resemblance to the European blackbird (to which it is closely related) in appearance, structure and behaviour, is striking.
