Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles with takamaka or Indian almond tree

The long sickle-shaped curve of Anse Lazio is one of the finest beaches on the main islands of the Seychelles group. Oceanic islands are usually either coralline or volcanic. The special attraction of the Seychelles is that they are granitic which leads, among other things to the most beautiful beaches. The takamaka tree (Terminalia catappa) is perhaps more appropriate here than the familiar coconut palm fringes of tropical beaches, since the latter may not be native to the Seychelles.
