Great white pelicans (Pelecanus onocrotalus), Walvis Bay, Namibia

This is normally a bird of fresh water, by exception here on the ocean. It is huge, up to 1.80 m long and with a wingspan of up to 3.6 m, exceeded only by some albatrosses. Widely, if patchily, distributed as a breeding species in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.
