Dawson, formerly Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada

Seen from the western bank of the Yukon river. Stands of white spruce (Picea glauca) in the foreground. Picture taken in July, temperature around +22°C. In winter it can sink to - 28°. In 1896, the town was the focus of the Klondike river gold rush, immortalised by Robert Service and Jack London. From a slide.
