LX-180418-05
The south porch. The cut stone is Doulting limestone, used at Bath, Wells and Glastonbury. The arch is a recut Norman arch with a C16th carved angel with wings open and arms folded in the place of the keystone. The eastern cushion capital has an inverted inscription on it which had defied attempts to translate it but seems to be at least C10th, may be earlier and thus a surviving fragment of the pre Norman building.
Pentax LX with smc Pentax A 24mm; f8, 1/60 sec, Adox Silvermax 100; Developer - Adox Rodinal, 1:25 dilution, 8 mins, Agfa Rondinax 35U tank.
