"In July 2017, I participated in the Fashion Events and Public Relations program in Florence. Getting to experience a different culture and explore Italy with friends, whilst gaining practical experience in the communications and PR sector made this an unforgettable trip. The program gave students invaluable real-life experience, and AIM Overseas made the whole trip incredibly easy, from the initial process of applying, to returning back to Australia.
The program focussed on methods of event production for the fashion industry, and covered public relation strategies, fashion communication, and event planning. Studying overseas is an incredible experience, and I would strongly encourage students to take advantage of the opportunity. The short course allows you to experience a new culture and study abroad, without missing out on university back home. The practical knowledge you gain is invaluable, but more importantly, getting to live abroad and experience life in another country is priceless.
My roommates and I not only explored Florence, but also made trips to Cinque Terre, Rome and Tuscany. We made lifelong friends, wined and dined, and soaked up the Italian culture for 3 weeks, all whilst contributing to our degree back home. If anyone reading this is considering heading on an AIM Overseas trip, I would strongly encourage you to just apply! AIM Overseas will take care of where you need to be, all you have to do is get on the plane and plan how you will spend your spare time exploring your destination."
