Resting Place

Disappointment can take many forms this is one of them.

Union Pacific 7661 sits in the hole at Arlington with fourteen thousand tons of coal behind the power, for the crew this is as far as they'll take the train today as DS248 had told them to tie it down "Metropolitan Stevedore isn't ready for the train yet". That sentence kind of blasted my plans on getting them pulling out of the siding but oh well next time.

Oddly enough these trains to Metro Stevedore are part of a small group of trains that the Union Pacific can actually provide decent enough service to and stay ahead of when it comes to delivery (hence the staging of these trains at various places). With these trains it's mostly due to how long the unload takes at Pier G: disconnect one car put it in the rotary drop the curtain and turn on the sprayers then unload, rinse repeat ninety or so times so there is zero coal dust then release the empties. That and they go into "Soda Ash Only Mode" once a month, which aside from creating a scramble to get a bunch of power to Mojave lets the Union Pacific load up a few coal trains and stage them up for the next coal cycle.
