Missouri Pacific GP18 1976 Dolton IL 6-25-1979
Here's a shot of Missouri Pacific GP18 in Bicentennial paint at Yard Center in Dolton IL June 1979. The 1976 was built in December 1962 as MP 418 and was renumbered to 1976 in a system-wide renumbering in 1973. The 1976 was repainted into the bicentennial scheme in February 1976 and was retired in April 1984. It was sold to Precision National in July 1985. The MP had two Bicentennial units, GP18 1976 and GP7u 1776. The 1776 was built in April 1950 as CE&I 212, later renumbered to CE&I 77, 84 and MP 1776. The 1776 received a chop nose in 1975 and was retired in September 1977, traded to EMD towards GP38-2s.
