Burlington Northern Cabooses Minneapolis MN 6-26-1972

Here's a shot of some Burlington Northern cabooses lined up at Minneapolis Junction June 1972. There's a variety of cabooses here, wood and steel, NP and GN plus a couple CB&Q cabs too. The first in line is GN X527, built in 1923 by the GN and retired by the BN in 1974 with only a haphazard spray painted BN number, 10985. The 10525 was built new for the BN in 1970. The next two are former NP cars, one in NP brown and the other in BN green. After that are two former CB&Q cars, one Wide Vision car in CB&Q silver and one older Q design but in BN green. The last two are a GN steel car and what looks to be a newer BN car. Even after all the diesels on the BN were painted green by 1977, there were many cabooses still in old paint to give a little variety to BN freight trains through the late 70s and 80s. Some cabooses were still in old paint into the early 90s yet. Minneapolis, MN June 26, 1972. Unknown Photographer Original Slide from my Collection.
