Burlington Northern GP20s 2006 and 2003 Lincoln NE 6-19-1971
Here's a shot of Burlington Northern GP20s 2006 and 2003 at Lincoln NE June 1971. Both of these units were built in April 1960 but had different fates. The 2003 was retired in August 1986 while the 2006 was rebuilt into GP20C 2002 in November 1989. The 2002 was retired in April 1993 and ended up on the Twin Cities and Western. These two GP20s were part of the first order of GP20s for the GN with the bell mounted on the front of the long hood. These were numbered GN 2000-2017, built in April/May 1960. The 2003 was painted Big Sky Blue until January 1975 and the 2006 until October 1976. I tried to do what I could about the overexposed light, so this slide came out a little dark but two Big Sky Blue units back to back is always a win. Lincoln, NE June 19, 1971.
