Great Northern SD7 566 Superior WI 6-1959

Here's a shot of Great Northern SD7s 566 and 569 resting at the Belknap Roundhouse in Superior June 1959. The date is just a guess but it was taken before 1962 as the water tower remains next to the roundhouse. There's some steam on the Dirt House tracks, likely retired and waiting to be moved down to 28th St. for storage. The steam seemed to be retired around 1958 so this shot could be earlier than 1959. The 566 and 569 would both be painted Big Sky Blue before the BN merger. The 569 was repainted in June 1968 after being Fire Damaged in Superior on September 4, 1967. The 566 was one of the last GN diesels painted BSB in early 1970. Both engines were retired in September 1983 as BN 6016 and 6019 respectively. Superior, WI June 1959.
