Ill-Conceived...
This is the DSLR version of a phone shot I took a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve taken to bringing my camera bag to work with so that I can grab a quick image on the commute either way, should conditions be right. After significant rainfall recently, it was nice to see some beautiful Autumnal colours bathed in glorious late afternoon sunlight as I left the factory. So I was quite excited about the possibility of revisiting this location as I headed home.
Somewhat over excited...
I failed to acknowledge that whole reason for the riverines in Fairford Leys is to handle excess rainfall and prevent flooding of the estate. Though I quickly got up to speed after trying to place my tripod in the water... and it immediately started floating away!
With little choice, I jumped in to rescue it, discovering as I did so that the water level was up to my navel...
So, with wellies filling with foul-smelling water and very conscious that my car keys were in a pocket of my jacket mere millimetres from submergance, I did what any sensible person would do... I waded back to shore, deposited the tripod, retrieved my camera and waded back out to take the shot!
May still return to get the long exposure I’d originally envisaged... but I like this handheld version.
