The Battle Between Athena and the Raging Storm

Η μάχη μεταξύ της Αθηνάς και της καταιγίδας

This looks like a serene image taken at the beach at sunset, but actually, the wind was howling like crazy with tropical-force winds. The wind was so strong, I had trouble opening my car door at the beach, and the howling wind was very loud in my ears. A 30 second exposure was used, which rendered the turbulent waves as a serene glaze over the water, but if you look at the trees to the right, you can see they were swaying back and forth like crazy during the 30 second exposure. I used a 6-stop ND filter plus a lens hood to protect the lens, but still had to wipe off water from the camera frequently. I anchored my tripod against some rocks, and pressed down on the camera during the exposure to keep the camera from moving in the wind and tipping over.

This image contains a clash between the serene beauty of nature versus a howling storm beating down on earth, as if re-enacting a battle of the Greek Gods... thus the title.
