Southern Cloudywing
Good morning! And these captures are worth a look in the large size.
Resembling Moths, Skippers are actually members of the Butterfly family, and can easily be ID'd by the 'club' shape at the end of the antenna. I believe this was a very fresh individual, as the colors were so deep, the bronze on the wings had a metallic sheen, and the edge of the underwings had a wonderful frosted look.
The Southern Cloudywing Skipper is a large brown, spread-wing with prominent white markings. The distinctive hour-glass shape of the 2nd white spot from the FW margin is a tell-tale field marking to help distinguish it from the Northern Cloudywing.
Cool, cloudy, rainy (STILL) here today....wishing better weather wherever you are, my friends...=-) Daisy
