G scale lift bridge

This basic structure of this bridge on our G scale eye level layout was built several years ago by Jim but never completed. The design was inspired by the Houghton-Hancock lift bridge in the U.P. I finally took some time to complete work on it. I purchased eight pulleys and a length of cord from Fleet Farm for the lift mechanism. The lift truss is just over six pounds and the two counterweights are three pounds each so it balances out nicely. I used Split Jaw bridge rail joiners that I bought at Engine House Services. The detail of the home made wood H beams does not really show up in the pictures.
