WMEC-6 USCGC 'Escape', United States Coast Guard, Charleston, South Carolina, USA
Built for the US Navy, launched on 22nd November 1942 and commissioned in November 1943. She was decommissioned and placed in reserve in 1946 before being recommissioned in July 1951 and served on the east coast and the Caribbean. During 1960 she was involved in Project Mercury, the US space-flight programme. On 1 September 1978 she was again decommissioned and laid up before being transferred to the US Coast Guard and commissioned as the USCGC Escape (WMEC-6) where she served until June 1995 when she was returned to the Navy and decommissioned for the final time. After a period in the reserve fleet at Fort Eustis, Virginia, she was sold for scrap in August 2009.
