Defiant
O.K. I almost posted this without commentary because I am really wondering if anyone else gets the story here, as a compromise I'll ask that you stop reading, soak this in and then come back.
Ready? O.K. I was standing here looking at the trees on the left and was thinking, if this doesn't define the Oregon Coast, nothing does. They stand there on the last grains of sand clutching intransigent against the onslaught of the deepest ocean on the planet, winds that reach triple digits, rain, everything that Mum Nature can throw at them. Like Rocky Balboa they have no defense other than to just stand there and get beaten, yet they still stand. Out there in the misty nether are remnants of volcanic activity subjected to the same continuous attack with the same eventual result, yet they persist. And into my scene walks these two ladies in 70ish degrees F temps, having surfed on waves that might have sustain them for, oh, twenty seconds then they drop and swim back out repeatedly. I say Oregon should rename their state, Defiant.
