Chilled Lava

These rocks once traveled across this field at a temperature somewhere between 1,300 and 2,200 degrees F 1900 years later they are a sight to behold for a man from Missouri who never thought to see a mountain growing up, much less make them his play ground. I know that I will never be as intimate with Saint Helens as I am with Rainer as it is three hours away, but it has never disappointed on my several dalliances so far. It's like a living history as we can see what was and what is right before our eyes. She grows even now......
