Semaphore Sunday
This view of C&EI's Hoopeston tower was taken sometime in 1971 and is showing both the NKP train order signals (at right) and the C&EI's train order signals (at left). By this time though, the Louisville & Nashville had taken over the C&EI through here and the Norfolk & Western had the NKP side. This view is looking N/E towards the town of Hoopeston. This interlocking would be automated sometime in the early 1970's. The former NKP line would be abandoned in 1986. CSX still comes through here with a fair amount of traffic.
