Bo's memorial

CSU's Argus Institute held a pet memorial gathering yesterday, and Dave and I went. I spent Saturday putting this together--driving all over town trying to find the right flowers (it's amazing how limited florists' selection seems when you're looking for specific flowers!)

I settled on red roses (love), dwarf sunflowers (gratitude and admiration) and honeysuckle (bonds of love, generous and devoted affection). Primroses (eternal love) were not available, but hey, it's really the same thing. I made little cards describing these meanings, which come from the victorian language of flowers, and then another card that just said Bo.

There were about 100 people there, and the tables were filled with photos and mementos. We talked to a few people after the program, and it made me very glad I went. It's been 17 days since he died, and when people heard that they were stunned I was at all functional and impressed I was even there. That was nice to hear, because people in the non-dog world expect me to be back to normal long ago. I know better, but 17 days of that message starts to wear a person down.

Too many of them knew about hemangiosarcomas.
