Bo in the cheatgrass (24/52)

Ah, cheatgrass, my nemesis. That and foxtails and all other barbed grasses that like to make their way into the skin of the unsuspecting.

When we moved into this house almost 10 years ago, much of the acre was covered with these evil plants. I tried mowing them short every year, but they just put out their seeds closer to the ground. So I surrendered to the inevitable and developed a new hobby--pulling cheatgrass and foxtails.

It's a ridiculous amount of work, but I'm not going to allow my dogs to wander at will through cheatgrass and foxtails, and I'm definitely not using chemicals. It's also very gratifying now, after years of consistent effort, to see so much less cheat grass come up every year.

It's an excellent outlet for the obsessive side of my nature, and it also keeps me off the streets.
