Hall of Private Audience - Inside
Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years. It is commonly said that the city was abandoned due to lack of water, but it may have been necessary to move the capital for political reasons.
This is the inside of the Hall of Private Audience. It is believed that the Emperor sat above the central pillar, with one of his Ministers at the end of the walkways in each corner.
