Glamorous? project: photo shoot questioning the glamour of the fashion industry with problems of anorexia existing. The project was inspired by the outrage that Mark Fast's 'Making Knitwear Sexy' fashion show caused when he used plus sized models. I used warm lighting and colours to make the model appear healthy in the 'Glamorous' side of the shoot, then black and white in the 'Glamorous?' side of the shoot to highlight the stress which the models go through when under the pressure to be thin. I made a pocket watch necklace for this shoot, the chains moved with the body as the model switched poses for the camera. The small watch faces were a subtle reminder that there isn't much time left for these girls who are depriving their bodies of food, and often taking drugs to stay the shape that they are. The denim jacket on this page was part of a textile project: I used a complex pattern for an office jacket but used materials from the Punk era to create the final piece. The shining silver studs reflected the light of the camera flashes as well as the blues of the navy coloured denim they were set into.

The jutting bones of the model inspired me to look into the Heroin Chic fashion movement which was in it's full swing during the 1990's. This project set a foundation for my Skeletal Structures project.
