Jumbo-Pass

Good news, my story about our backpacking adventures in the Canadian Rockies is now up on my website (link below). I will be delaying posting my gallery release because this week I will be flying back to Canada and will be photographing more images to hopefully add to what I currently have. In the meantime I’d like to share this photo with you, along with my story of our time in Canada and different locations spent along the way. In my story I share some tips on gear and apps that you can use, I found them quite valuable during our trip.

After several hours of traveling we arrived at a town named Invermere, there we set off for our steep, 4-mile (2600 elevation gain) climb to Jumbo Pass. The track rises from the forest below Bastille Mountain’s ramparts before the incredible panorama opens out across the Jumbo and Karnak Mountains. To one side of the mountains there is a stunning Horseshoe Glacier tumbling from the Cauldron Mountain right into the other. The only way I can describe the hike was as if you were constantly climbing up a set of stairs, loaded down with 43 pounds of camping and photography gear, what a workout! We decided to spend the night there, shooting both sunset and the sunrise with stunning fields of wildflowers sprawled against the rugged peaks. I hope you enjoy the photo as much as I have!
