The special body constructed with the staircase moved forward to allow a jackknife door to be installed in its place to allow offside loading and unloading at the platforms in the Kingsway subway.Another expensive flop that London Transport got involved in,The P.A.Y.E experimental buses of the 1940s went down the pan at enormous expense.
