Backpacking HIKE BIKE Build, Up Trail
Got to the bench area, shoreline of old Lake Bonneville, pretty fast. The Great Salt Lake is only its salty remnant. I began to notice on some of the steepest sections that the amount of energy I was expending was just about the same as if I had a pack on my back. You have to lean forward and pull at the bike with your straight armed, unflexed extension, grabbing the rear of the seat. Leaning too far forward made my feet slip out from beneath me. Its a fine line to judge but you get the hang of it real fast. It's a minor adjustment to your hiking style. But that's only on the steepest uphills. Everything else was much easier, with a capitol M, to hike with the bike.
