Steveston Britannia Heritage Shipyard Homes 2

Some of the old Japanese fisherman's homes which are part of the Britannia Historic Shipyard in Steveston.

The Britannia Historic Shipyard is made up of former fisherman's homes from the early 20th century, former canneries and boatyards.

Steveston is a fishing village on the South Arm of the Fraser River that dates back to the late 19th century.

It was home to a large fleet of salmon fishing boats and attracted many native Candian, Japanese and Asian fishermen who came to the town to make their living.

The town is still home to many boats, though the canneries and boatyards are either abandoned or museums now.
