The Whale and Crowbar galaxies

NGC 4631 (above) and NGC 4656/4657 (below), a grouping of galaxies in the northern constellation Canes Venatici. NGC 4631 has a dwarf elliptical galaxy companion, NGC 4627. NGC 4631 itself is a barred spiral but we are looking at it edge on.

This image is an LRGB integration of data captured with a QHY163M mono camera, a William Optics FLT110 telescope.and Optolong filters. In total there was about 6 hours of L data and 3 in each of the RGB channels. Image acquisition was managed with SGP and PHD2, All post-processing was carried out in PixInsight.
