Rain Room

Rain Room, 2012

Created by rAndom International, installed at the Barbican Centre, October 2012 to March 2013.

 

Rain Room is a hundred square metre field of falling water through which it is possible to walk, trusting that a path can be navigated, without being drenched in the process.

Sensors register a person walking into the area and the water above stops, creating a (mostly) dry zone surrounded by the simulated rain.
