Dragon Dance

Celebrations at Trafalgar Square to see in the Chinese New Year, this time - the Year of the Rabbit.

 

After the greetings and speeches, the eyes of the Lion were dotted, the Dragon danced, and then one of the Lions performed ontop of a series of poles.

 

The dragon is carried on poles by a team of people. The team mimics themovements of the river spirit in a sinuous, undulating manner. As the dance progressed, they spelled out various ideograms.
