Mood Altering
A wall light to alter the mood of a room
FontanaArte Lunaire Lamp (2013)
By Ferréol Babin
Named so for evoking the effect of an eclipse, the wall-mounted fixture consists of two parts: a large concave circular reflector with a cylindrical light source fixed in the center. Because the cylindrical bulb is illuminated on the sides instead of forward-facing, users can control exactly where the light goes. If the cylinder is pushed back, the light ends up behind the reflector, softly diffused against the wall. For a stronger effect, users can pull the cylinder forward to concentrate the light within the reflector. In short, it’s a lamp that’s also its own dimmer switch.
