A small present

I encountered this little grass snake just a week ago when I was searching for black woodpeckers. I didn't see them but I ran upon this tiny grass snake ca 30 cm long, that was lying down on the path. It tried not to move hoping I wouldn't see it, but whenever I moved, it put out its tongue. Not to ridicule me, but to smell.

 

I went down on my belly to have the perfect background.
