The quarelling kestrels
I have made no secret of my love for kestrels lately. One kestrel after another came to delight my photos. They wanted to have their picture taken, sometimes from very close up.
But it could be worse, two pieces on one image, you shouldn't want to overdo it. The following happened to me when I went looking for Eurasian Hobbies at Soesterberg Airport. Not Eurasian Hobbies, but 3 kestrels.
I sat down in front of a hangar, just like that one kestrel that calmly looked around on the roof of that hangar. But suddenly a male passed by and teasingly tapped her on the head from behind. She gave a shrill cry of fear, as if someone had yelled BOO at her very loudly.
Because I was starting to get the feeling that the party wasn't over yet, I kept waiting for what was to come. She had now moved to a post at the hangar, and yes, that bully came back again. This time determined to grab that post. Which also happened. In the photo the male is on the right and the female on the left.
