Looking for prey!
Hen harriers are extremely rare in the Netherlands, at least in the areas that I frequent. You really have to be lucky to see one, and I once was when I encountered a female close to where my sister lives. That was more a less a perfect shot (flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/51911998315/in/album-7215...).
But then I found out that there is one location about 30 minutes away where hen harriers spend the winter. Everyday they were reported in an area that is called Planken Wambuis, so off I went. I sat there all day and came home with ca 600 images. A few were very nice and this is one of them. More to come later.
