Freeze! (In Explore 27-09-2024, and 26-12-2024)

It's not easy to end up in the same situation again just after you've thrown your principles overboard (see flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/53918155493/in/dateposted). Another pole-sitter! He/she is sitting quite far away (I estimate 30 meters), and in backlight I can't quite see what kind of guy is staring at me challengingly. Quickly clicked, and through my viewfinder I see the next disaster unfold, "no not again, another kestrel. That will be shots 340, 341 and 342! Sigh....

It turns out to be a male. It will probably be the suitor of the lady who just had her portrait taken extensively on the catwalk. Apparently he HAS to be in the picture too! Fortunately my batteries are almost empty and after I have put myself back in sneak mode, I take two more pictures before it gets too hot under this gentleman's feet and he chooses the air. The loser!

But seeing the result at home I am very happy. Not only can you clearly see the difference between a male and a female, I suspect that the male portrait is the best shot of a kestrel I have ever taken, and I don't have to look at all 342 for that. Keep shooting those kestrels!!
