Fisherman's Friends

The second shot from my stay at Bardia (Nepal). The border of the park is marked by the Girwa river, and before I came here I had a sort of romantic thought to cruise the river in a canoe, and see the wildlife from there.

Unfortunately the water levels were too low to do that, so I just could walk along the river.

But also the walks in the morning and the end of the day were enjoyable because a lot of birds could be seen, from time time the patrol guard was walking by on their elephants, and people were at the river all the time for the river is in many ways a source of life!

Here you see people fishing together, and I sat during different days for many hours to see how tough life is for people in these local communities. It might be a romantic image, but for them it is a pure necessity to survive. There is no supermarket in this little village.
