Longing for the seeds on the ground but all these bird watchers
Last winter I developed a new hobby, to spot rare birdwatchers. It's still a lot of work to find them. Most common birdwatchers are like me, just a house, garden and kitchen spotter, normal clothes, binoculars around the neck and armed with a camera and telephoto lens, but I am of course looking for spotters who are armed with a super-telephoto lens of approximately € 50000, or e.g. with a bird telescope from the brand Svarovski STX 30-70*115, or bird watchers who are completely immersed in the surroundings (not yet seen, but possibly missed), bird watchers dressed as a house sparrow or starling, or for example bird watchers those who soar through the air with self-made wings to spot the rare red kite. That would be an amazing find!
Fortunately, it is possible to track down birdwatchers via waarneming.nl. You can find them throughout the country, often clustered in places in the bushes, so you never have to look for long. They often are very easy to recognize by their plumage.
An additional advantage is that you can also pick up a nice bird every now and then. The attached redpoll was part of a group of 20 redpolls (and ditto bird watchers).
Not only the redpolls dived into the grass, many birdwatchers also stretched out on the ground. However, I have not been able to catch them eating seeds. (That's the rarest kind of birdwatcher.)
