Another adorable sight, which learned me another lesson. Often you hear people say that male ducks are very rude towards their women, and that they often rape them in a cruel way. But in this scene that I vividly remember that was not the case.
The couple was swimming next to each other, when I saw the female giving an explicit sign towards the male that she was ready for him. He mounted and took very softly her head in his beak to prevent her from going under water. Then they mated.
Since then I have seen two other cases where the females were very explicit in their wish (other ducks), but the male or didn't understand her wish, or was not in the mood/ready for mating.
