A wink from a mink is as good as a nod from a god. (press L and F11)
In Canada I visited the marine park close to Tadoussac, and camped in les Bergeronnes (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/36646393504). It is very difficult to make a decent whale picture and it took me 5 days to get this one, observing from morning until dusk.
This one is perfect! You can even see one eye (for best view press L and F11).
The difficulty is that you have no idea where they come out of the water, and focusing is so damn hard either. Result, most of the time you are far too late. Not this time. I guess this is a minky whale (dwergvinvis). The shot was taken from the shore at Tadoussac, which is where the river the Sanguenay is entering the bay. One of the reasons whales are abundant here is that because of the fresh water from the river, there is a lot of food here to find for the whales.
