It’s a bit strange that this grave has been allowed to fall into such a dilapidated state because Alfred Leney was a significant figure in Dover. He bought the long established Phoenix Brewery in 1859, and this expanded as Leney's Brewery with the aid of his three sons before amalgamating with another major Kent brewer, Fremlins, in 1926.
