Hythe Tram Offices
The Hythe and Sandgate Tramway was built in fits and starts, but the west end by these offices and stables opened in June 1892. It was originally operated by South Eastern Railways, who built the horse-drawn tram cars at their Ashford works. Services were suspended during WW1, and after the war the tramway resumed only as a tourist attraction in the summer months. The tram sheds were in front of this building, but were destroyed by fire in 2010. The surviving building has been much altered, the stone fascia bearing the name of the company now being the only clue as to its former life.
