Built for the Providence and Worcester Railroad by Electro Motive Division in La Grange, Ill, the 40 year old veteran GP38-2 #2006 rounds up loaded ballast cars destined for the Long Island Railroad.
TILCON's stone processing plant in Wallingford is responsible for about half of the carloads of aggregate stone that is shipped to New York State via trackage rights over Amtrak and Metro North. TILCON's plant in Branford, CT and Rawson Material's quarry in Plainfield, CT make up the other half. The quarry in Wallingford also ships stone to the TILCON plant in Danbury, and occasionally loads ballast cars for Metro North.
