noni juice became a fad drink in the philippines about a decade ago. people were told about the health benefits of this wonder plant supposedly originating in the mangroves of hawaii. but what exactly is the noni plant? turns out that noni is a tree from the coffee family called Morinda citrifolia and common in Southeast Asia and Australasia. australian aborigines eat them raw. some medical studies suggests that consumption of this fruit can treat certain ailments, however, albeit further study. to my amazement i found this fruit common along some coastline areas in manila and more recently even within my neighborhood.
