Irish Hunger Memorial

The "Irish Hunger Memorial" provides a "connection" between Ireland and New York City. It honors the memory of those who died in the "Great Irish Famine" of 1845-1852. The location of this memorial, in Lower Manhattan, gives it an added poignancy. The "Irish Hunger Memorial" was dedicated in 2002, soon after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
