Life Drawing Examples

Coming from a Graphic Design course in my College to a foundation year was a significant change, more so for me than others. Having very little experience in life drawing - and fine art in general - the task of drawing the human figure was a somewhat daunting task. Being one of several Graphic Design students in a course full of fine artists, our work seemed lacking in essence, but this is something I believe is to be expected coming from a more computer friendly discipline.

With that in mind, the easiest way I found to conquer life drawing was to map out each area of the body through using lines, symmetry and geometry. Whilst my drawings have their flaws, I have found a new confidence in pencil based drawing, something which was near none-existent before this foundation year. The idea of 'loosening up' and freeing myself from doubt and restriction is something that I believe has only benefit my work and practice.
