When the City of Austin began Piloting Curbside Compost Collection in 2013, they purchased Heil MultiPacks for the routes. While these units were still outfitted with Perkins tippers at the rear, the intent is that carts are emptied with the Python arm, and that all bulky or excess material can be loaded at the rear.
As of June 2018, the City has rolled out Curbside Compost Collection to 90,000 residents, and hope to offer service to the entire city by 2020. This effort is to help the city reach its goal of Waste Zero by 2040.
